Masons Rural proudly sponsors the return of The Farming Show
Fri 04 Jul 2025
We are delighted to announce that we are sponsoring the newly relaunched The Farming Show with Steve Orchard, airing every Sunday at 7am and available on podcast platforms thereafter.
As long-time supporters of Lincolnshire’s agricultural sector and owners of Louth Livestock Market, we’re delighted to lend our support to a programme that informs, supports, and celebrates the rural community we’ve served for over 175 years.
“The Farming Show is a great platform to reconnect with our rural audience and reflect the challenges and opportunities facing local farmers,” says Simon Williams, Managing Director of Masons Rural. “It’s something the community has missed — and we’re really pleased to help bring it back.”
At the Heart of Livestock Farming Community
Running Lincolnshire’s only livestock auction Louth Livestock Market, a crucial trading hub and community gathering point for livestock farmers across the county and beyond, it makes sense to help bring back the weekly market report to listeners.
“It’s the only livestock market for miles around, and its importance can’t be overstated,” Simon explains. “Livestock is still an integral part of many farms, and having a trusted, local market to trade stock is vital to their success.”
Listeners will once again be able to hear regular updates from Edward Middleton, our experienced auctioneer, who’ll bring insights on market prices, upcoming sales, and the local stock trade.
Supporting farmers beyond the ring
While the livestock market is a key part of our identity, Masons Rural provides a much broader range of professional rural services designed to support the future of farming businesses in Lincolnshire.
“We’re far more than a livestock market – we’re a rural consultancy offering expert advice on everything from agri-environment schemes and grant funding to renewable energy projects, planning applications, and succession planning,” said Simon in his interview with Steve this week (listen from around 30 minutes in).
In an increasingly complex landscape of agricultural policy and regulation, our team is here to offer clear, practical, and cost-effective advice.
“Schemes like the Sustainable Farming Incentive and Countryside Stewardship can be overwhelming,” Simon adds. “That’s why we have specialists like Abi Saunders, our agri-business advisor who works closely with farmers to help them navigate these grant funding opportunities in a way that works for their business.”
Helping farmers plan for the future
With inheritance tax and succession planning becoming urgent concerns for many landowners, in light of government legislation we’ve also introduced our IHT Health Checks, a vital service for those looking to safeguard their farm’s future.
“We visit the farm, collaborate with the client’s accountant and solicitor, and assess the current position,” Simon explains. “From there, we help them build a coherent succession plan and identify opportunities to mitigate future tax liabilities.”
A key part of that process includes providing robust valuations, often required for HMRC and future planning.
“Good planning takes time, and our aim is to give clients the headspace and advice they need to make the right decisions,” says Simon.
Why we’re supporting The Farming Show
At Masons Rural, we believe in supporting initiatives that strengthen the voice of the rural community — and The Farming Show does just that.
“We’ve had a great relationship with the show over the years, particularly through livestock market reports,” says Simon. “So now, it feels right for us to give something back and help bring it back to life.”
