At Masons Rural we are passionate about encouraging the best new talent into farming, so we’re delighted to share details of this new scheme to help more young people take their first steps into agriculture.

The Addington Fund has launched an exciting New Entrant Grant Scheme that could provide vital support for new farming businesses whether renting, securing a new tenany or starting a fresh farming venture.

This scheme is designed for innovative individuals with a passion for farming aged 18-40. To apply you must be:

  • Entering farming in England or Wales for the first time, or
  • Have been farming independently for no more than five years

Up to £3,000 is available to invest in items that will improve your farm's health or the health of your livestock and your overall resilience, including:

Animal health and welfare: livestock health planning, vet attestation, wormers, vaccinations, shearing services, hoof trimming equipment, and livestock monitoring cameras for lambing or calving sheds.

Farm infrastructure: mobile fencing equipment (valuable for new tenancies), disinfection mats and sprays to reduce disease risk.

Land management: soil and fodder analysis to optimise soil and feed performance.

These grants are specifically aimed at supporting practical improvements that will deliver real benefits to any new farming business.

Applying is easy
