Celebrating success as Henry passes his Central Association of Agricultural Valuers exams first time!
Thu 18 Dec 2025
We're delighted to announce that Henry Simpson has passed his CAAV professional examinations first time, becoming one of 93 successful new Fellows (FAAV) from this year's exams held in November.
At just 22 years old, from a Lincolnshire farming family, Henry has just started the fourth year of his Rural Degree Apprenticeship and his achievement shows his dedication, natural aptitude for the industry, and the value of combining academic study with hands-on professional practice.
Rural apprenticeship in action
Henry joined Masons Rural in 2022 and enrolled in Rural Estate and Land Management at Harper Adams University. His time with Masons Rural has embodied the principles of ‘learning through doing’ working alongside Managing Director Simon Williams and other members of the team, Henry has gained invaluable experience, putting theory into practice.
From a farming background and regularly assisting with livestock at Louth Livestock Market, Henry arrived at Masons with a solid understanding of the agricultural industry. However, the opportunity to shadow experienced colleagues and engage directly with clients during project meetings and valuations has helped to shape his professional development.
The CAAV journey
The CAAV two-day professional examinations are known for being the toughest in the industry. Exams test candidates' knowledge across the breadth of agricultural and rural practice, so passing first time is a significant achievement that reflects both Henry's dedication to study and the benefits of learning within a supportive professional environment.
What's next for Henry
Henry's positive approach to the diversity of agricultural work is evident in everything he does. Whether meeting with clients across the Lincolnshire Wolds, taking a hands-on role droving sheep at the Livestock Market on Mondays, or creating land brochures in the office, his enthusiasm is evident.
“The exams were tough, but I'm glad the early mornings and late nights studying paid off, leading to me passing first time, and becoming a Fellow of CAAV so early in my career” said Henry adding “huge thanks is due to my colleagues at Masons for their support and encouragement over the last few months.”
“I am looking forward to continuing my studies to complete my degree and working towards my RICS chartership over the next two years."
Congratulations Henry Simpson, FAAV
Our MD, Simon Williams extended his congratulations to Henry in last week’s project leaders meeting saying “we couldn't be prouder of Henry's achievement. He has worked hard in everything he’s done since joining the Rural team, embracing every part of the business to learn more. It’s perfect timing form him to get this under his belt now with further study to come as part of his degree course.”
We believe Henry’s success demonstrates the value of combining university education with real-world professional practice, and we're excited to see how his career continues to develop within the Masons Rural Team as a fully qualified FAAV.
