Supporting young farmers is something very close to our hearts at Masons, so following on from last year's Food & Farming awards, we are once again delighted to sponsor the Future of Farming category at this year's Best of Lincolnshire Awards 2024 which brings together Food, Farming & Hospitality to be held on 1st October Lincolnshire Day at the historic Assembly Rooms in Lincoln.

Building on last year's success, which saw Riley Taylor of R G Taylor & Sons, claim the Future of Farming award, this year offers a fresh opportunity for another Young Lincolnshire farmer to shine, boost business awareness, increase credibility and gain valuable insight into business.

What sets these awards apart is our unique self-nomination process. This approach allows you to showcase your personal achievements and successes as a young farmer, providing a platform to promote your service, product or offer in a way to inspire others to diversify or expand their own or their family farming businesses.

We recently caught up with last year's winner Riley Taylor and asked him to share advice for anyone thinking of entering.

“I think the kind of young farmers I would like to see is pretty much everyone. I think we should really celebrate the diversity across the board in agriculture, so that opens it up to so many people not just the actual farmers themselves.”

“So, my advice would be to just get entered because you haven't really got anything to lose. It’s a really great event and if you get shortlisted you get an invite to the event itself and it just gives you a chance to show off what you've been working so hard for.”

“Winning any sort of award is always such a great achievement, such a great feeling that just shows what you know working so hard to achieve and is actually being recognised and especially for me diversification with rapeseed oil, it’s just given customers and any potential new customers that actual guarantee that we are a hard-working family farm, and you can trust our products.”

“If any young farmers have any questions about entering the I am happy to answer them although it really is quite straightforward which is all the more reason to get your application in. There are so many great young farmers out there that work so hard all year round so great chance to show off that hard work and get recognised.”

Young farmers play a crucial role in the community, and it's essential to recognise their contributions, especially during challenging times. Unfortunately, they seem a little shy about applying.

If you’re the parent, friend or family of a Young Farmer who deserves to have their efforts acknowledged then please share this blog with them and encourage them to click on the link below to apply:
